Lee Glazer,
a resident of Ward 6, is the mother of three DC public school students
and the co-founder of Save Our Schools. She is engaged in
on-going research on charter school performance and accountablity and
on the relationship between gentrification and school "choice."
Lee is a frequent public speaker and media contact on the issue of
charter schools and their effects on public schools in Washington, DC.
Kerry Sylvia
is a teacher at Cardozo Senior High School, where she has been teaching
for the past 7 years. She is Chair of the Social Studies
Department and teaches World History, US Government and Street
Law. She is the recipient of the World Affairs Council’s, 2005
Teacher of the Year Award in International Education and a 2006 Fellow
for the Fund for Teachers Foundation. Kerry has been active in reforming DCPS since the start of her teaching career. She has testified and fought for school modernization,
more accountability within DCPS, and against the expansion of charter
schools. She has dedicated her life to providing a quality
education for all students of the District. As a 13 year resident
of DC, Kerry has also been active with the struggles for affordable
housing, healthcare, and increased social services in DC.
